There are lots of different sections on ACME.com but the first one I wanted to share with you, is the ACME Label Maker. It generates whatever phrase you want, in a multitude of colours and fonts. Simply right click the generated image and save it to your computer…and voila…

Weekly collection sale and Nursery Rhymes…

Hi there,

I hope you’re all ready for a wonderful weekend. Valarie has no new releases this weekend, so I thought I would share some inspiration for one of my layouts with you. When I first saw Valarie’s Weekly collection, I immediately thought of the poem, ‘Monday’s Child’. It’s a traditional nursery rhyme, here in England, taught to children, to help them learn the days of the week. Here is the poem and you can find out more about it’s origins HERE. Common modern versions include:

Monday's child is fair of face,

Tuesday's child is full of grace,

Wednesday's child is full of woe,

Thursday's child has far to go,

Friday's child is loving and giving,

Saturday's child works hard for a living,

But the child who is born on the Sabbath/Sunday

Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

My DD was born on a Thursday and this inspired my simple layout with the Weekly Collection.

Memory Lane Freebie

Hi, all! It's Tuesday and I'm heading out of town for vacation tonight. YAY! I'm taking my four kidlets to the beach with a friend and her one son. Hoping she doesn't go into kid overload.

Anyway, we don't go to the beach often, but I remember going as a young girl... just the women and children then, too... hmmm. So what is it with husbands not wanting to spend hours on end watching young children get sandy and sunburned? Wimps, hehe. Anyway, as I was taking this trip done Memory Lane it brought to mind the kit by Valarie by the same name. It is just such a lovely kit that I had to show it off today.

There's something about it, no matter how long and hard the day has been the sound of my daughters laughing until they are on the verge of tears can sure brighten things up. It can have you laughing just as hard and not even know what was originally so funny. That was the inspiration for my newest kit which you can only find at Ginger Scraps! That's exactly how things have been lately! I'm sure you all understand how you can have the best laid out plans, the best of intentions, the trusted schedules and there comes a point where unexpected things happen and you are left wondering where you even left off. That's what it's been like for me lately and I apologize for the 'abandonment' it's not been intentional!

New Stuff

sort of. I'm still trying to catch up and get all my previous products into FPD. It seems every time I get going on things something comes up and I must tend to other things sick kids, laundry, dinner, homework..you know..life.
I was however able to get these two things up for this week and a couple more for next week. There's also other things in the works for the blog and I'm hoping to start that by tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!
This week I added in Delight, and perfect timing too I am so ready for Spring!!

I'm also working to get my templates loaded up, and to help tie you over until I get the new ones finished!

I got really busy last weekend and had forgotten to do the blog post so I'm adding in last weeks release as well.

Back To Work

Finally we are catching a break from all the cold and snow! It's been so nice here the past few days. We've actually gotten a lot accomplished now that everyone is back to good health.
With all the sickness the housework isn't the only thing that has suffered, designing has too. It's quite difficult to manage when even you are sick! We are getting back on track there too. I have plans for stuff to make a return and will be debuting at FPD very soon. Plans to re-vamp some older stuff and make those available as well.
For now though I have a few things to catch up on telling you about. I've gotten 2 collabs that have been released and you don't want to miss either of them.
The first is a collab with the fabulous Kiki Halbert (Recherché by KH Designs) called Winter Frolic. This kit has everything winter and lets face it with all the snow we've had this year we've got more than enough snow pics to scrap!

Up next I did a collab with the amazing Tiffany of IBD Designs. I had a blast working on this, it was a theme I hadn't worked on before. It covers tons of different things including weight loss, quitting smoking, making healthier changes and still can be suited for any type of layout, appropriately titled "Changes"

Lastly I have a new mini kit Little Bug. My youngest daughter is a true lover of ladybugs and her favorite color is pink so what better way to do something for her? This one is exclusive to SDD and on sale right now so hurry on over and take a peek!

Simple Pleasures Project

We tend to get lost in the fast pace of everything I need/want to learn to slow down and stop taking those little things for granted. Each and every day something special happens, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time. It's those things that we are going to want to remember. It's those things that give us the warm fuzzy feelings. It's those things that really make each moment count.
This is why the team & I have decided to participate in a special project 365 this year. Each day we will somehow record a simple pleasure from that day. These are each personal to us and some may only be truly understood by the person writing them. That's okay. The point is to focus on something that made you smile that day. Something that made you feel good that day. At the end of the year we will have a very nice compilation of notes that bring back great memories for us. I've even created a template to use if you want to scrap those moments all together. We really hope you will join us in this adventure!
To make it even sweeter one random person will receive a coupon to my shop at Funky Playground each week. The only stipulation, you must play along with us and leave us a comment on the Simple Pleasures blog post each week.

Inspiration and a Freebie

Hi there and welcome to October at Valarie’s blog. I’m here to share some inspiration from me to you. If you’re a regular to Valarie’s blog, I’m kind of the freebie desktop lady and this month is no exception. If you haven’t got one yet for autumn, feel free to to snag my freebie desktops.

They were made using Valarie’s contribution to the October Color Play event at Elemental Scraps. I used Crisp Elements and Crisp Papers.

I was going to share a tutorial with you and then the Katie at the Daily Digi beat me to it, so you might want to check out her excellent tutorial which you can find HERE

All I would add, is that you create a new file, the size of you desktop, ie 1024x 768 at 300dpi, add a background paper and then drag your favourite 12x12 or 8x8 layout onto it. Arrange as you please and then save as a .jpeg. Simple, eh. Here is my original layout and I’m sure you can see exactly what I did LOL!

Running Late

Sorry I'm so late getting this posted. I've got sick kids at home and we are running on empty as far as sleep goes. So I'm going to make this quick today and get back to the young'uns.
Color Play started at ES today. We had such a lovely swatch to work with. I went with a fall theme obviously lol Anyway hope you enjoy, also don't forget about all the challenges at ES that have started! I'll try to cover those in more detail very soon.

Saturdays seem like the perfect day to scrap. I'm hoping that since I will be home for the first Saturday in I don't know how long I may actually get to do some of that myself. So I'm here to share a few things with you that have been on my scrappy to do list for ages.

Font: first I am loving this font Ladylike! I am bound and determined to use it for a layout this week. Its available in Win True Type, Mac True Type & Mac Post Script.

Words: I've decided to challenge myself a bit. I'm going to focus on one word per week and try to create something, anything, around that word. The word I have chosen for this week: Conquer

Journaling: I love journaling. Always have, whether it be in the form of a diary, a blog, or just little notes I've written and hidden in places just to forget where they are. I'm usually surprised by them months sometimes years later. Alot of my layouts are full of journaling, however most of those don't make it online for personal preference, a 2nd version is posted, one without all the journaling. I would like to focus on some photoless layouts, ones that share just the story. I challenge you to do one too!

I have! It's called Amanda's Hand and I guess I use it a lot and the reason I love it so much is it really reminds me of my own handwriting.

It comes from typography masters Kevin and Amanda whose page is full of awesome (and free) fonts. Check it out if you haven't been there!
